The Initial Challenge
Our first prototype fell short of the brand’s high-end expectations. We identified four critical pain points:

The box would flatten upon opening, ruining the "ritual" feel. Due to budget and sustainability mandates, traditional reinforcements (fiberboard, screws) were prohibited. - Precision Die-Cutting Issues
The central components failed to align perfectly, and the internal positioning slots were on uneven planes. - Aesthetic Gaps
Visible gaps at the beveled edges compromised the "flawless" look required by the brand. - Surface Creasing
Obvious paper marks and creases prevented us from achieving a perfectly smooth, premium finish.

1. Self-Supporting "Ritual" Architecture
Instead of relying on ribbons or non-eco-friendly supports, we re-engineered the structural load-bearing of the paper itself. By leveraging the unique tensile strength of premium paper, we created a self-supporting mechanism that unfolds with a choreographed "ceremony"—without any extra hardware.

2. Seamless Internal Alignment
To ensure the central panels remained perfectly flat and flush, we utilized high-precision die-cut cardboard as the base. We engineered hidden locking mechanisms beneath the tray to snap the two-part seam into a single horizontal plane, achieving a high-precision, flush finish.

3. Bespoke Beveled Tooling
While other suppliers relied on inconsistent manual trimming to fix gaps, we developed custom beveled molds for internal grooves. This precision engineering eliminated gaps entirely, meeting XPeng’s stringent aesthetic requirements while reducing labor costs and ensuring mass-production consistency.

4. Crease-Free Surface Engineering
For areas prone to overlapping grooves, we combined specific raw materials with a gravure-recessing technique. By ensuring that overlapping points were recessed into the paper structure, we guaranteed a finished surface that was flawlessly smooth and free of unsightly creases.
